“ Elton John: Never Too Late” is an intimate documentary film of Sir Elton John’s music career and family life over the past 50 years, and was a world premiere at TIFF, Toronto International Film Festival, 2024. Co-directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, Elton John’s husband, this is a great movie to watch for all Elton John music fans and lovers. It highlights the early years of his career, his songwriting, key relationships in his life, fame, drug addiction, emotional struggles, several music concerts right up until some of his more recent ones while featuring great photos, his costumes and interviews.
As a pleasant surprise for the audience, the 77 year old Elton John music star appeared live with his husband and co-director at Roy Thomson Hall on the stage after the premier viewing and discussed the making of the film. Most of all Elton spoke of the importance of kindness in the world and in the upcoming American election, his joy of being a father and husband, and the love of his family life, in addition to his music career. He also stated that he would like to be remembered more for being a great dad and husband than his fame when he dies. Additionally he talked about how he will be enjoying his senior years and retirement from music touring with his family at home and also keep making music. He also mentioned he was struggling from a severe eye infection and having troubles seeing, and was still in a slow hopeful recovery from it.
